Sparrow Marketplace

The Sparrow Marketplace is a centralized directory of public workspaces built and shared by the Sparrow community. These workspaces feature ready-to-use API collections, environments, and test flows that can be explored, tested, and shared.

The marketplace offers a powerful way to learn from other developers, preview and test well-documented APIs, and discover how different teams manage their API lifecycles.

Key Features

  • Search workspaces: Use the search bar to locate workspaces by name, tags, or publisher.
  • Recently Visited Workspaces: Quick access to what you explored recently.
  • Real-time API Interaction: Test APIs in read-only mode directly in the marketplace.
  • Public Tag Indicator: All marketplace workspaces are marked with a persistent “Public” tag.
  • Overview Section: View summaries, last update timestamps, and collection counts.

  1. Click the “Marketplace” option from the side navigation bar.
  2. Browse the workspaces or use the Search bar at the top.
  3. Any public workspace is displayed with its entire workspace details.

Exploring a Workspace

Once you open a workspace from the marketplace:

  • The overview section shows a short description of what the workspace does.

  • All collections within the workspace are expandable, showing:

    • REST, GraphQL, WebSocket, and Socket.IO APIs
    • Structured folders
    • Metadata like request names and auth types
  • You can interact with the collections using the interface

Read-Only Interaction

Marketplace users can:

  • Modify parameters
  • Hit Send to view live responses
  • Change headers or body payloads

But they cannot:

  • Save, fork, or clone a workspace from here
  • Edit the information
  • Export any API or environment configuration

Sharing Public Workspaces

Each public workspace provides a “Copy Public Link” or Share Workspace button.

  • Anyone with this link can preview the workspace
  • Great for community discussions, blog references, or documentation embeds

UI Highlights

  • The Public tag is shown prominently in the workspace header and context bar
  • Summary, collections, and timestamps are available in list cards
  • Once inside a workspace, the top dropdown updates with the workspace name and its public status
  • Preview tabs include: Collections, Environments, and Test Flows

Best Practices for Publishing to Marketplace

If you're contributing to the Sparrow Marketplace:

  • Use clear workspace names and its relavent details
  • Organize APIs into folders and logical flows
  • Keep your collections updated
  • Add relevant environment variables with safe defaults
  • Avoid exposing sensitive keys in public requests
info
  • You can access the Marketplace from both desktop and web versions
  • Marketplace workspaces are discoverable but always sandboxed
  • Hub-level public profiles and favoriting workspaces may be supported in future iterations
